Positively Not Horsing Around, Face 11

Pen and ink have always been my favourite medium.  I feel confident with it, and find no need to do a pencil sketch before I draw with my black fine tipped marker.

This young man was inspired by a horse that I photographed this summer at the Maple Creek Rodeo in Saskatchewan.  What attracted me to this horse is his mane and side "bangs" because his reminded me of how some teenagers are wearing their lately.  Here is a link to my post about the type of personalities of horses in rodeo horses.

Since this Face Challenge is about trying something new, it is the first time I seriously drew a horse.  I feel proud of the drawing, especially when it didn't require me drawing, erasing, drawing and erasing, and drawing and erasing some more.  I drew without pencil sketching first, that means I positively didn't horse around with doubt and frustration, yea haw! It is about time!

  5. Sketching/drawing horses has always been a favourite past time! I even managed to decorate the walls of the Irvine School gymnasium with horses and unicorns for our graduation many moons ago!!! Your post makes me want to sketch again! This is wonderful Renee! I love those southern AB coulees in the background!
