Touching Contradictions

One touch can change a life forever and ever!

This multi-media visual journal entry is about the contradiction of our sense of touch.

Sometimes it is the most splendid thing in the world to experience, other times it is a punch to the heart.

Sometimes we wish the touch never ends, like the touch of a grandchildā€™s hand or the touch of a musician hand on violin strings or the touch of your dying fatherā€™s hand. Other times we wish we had never done the touch at all like touching the hot stove or a sharp knife or sticking your hand into a dark hole.

This entry started with no intentions, just in the moment mindfulness, watercolour and acrylic paint, pages from a novel, tissue paper with musical notes, gesso and gel medium applied with a trowel, scribbles with crayons, china markers, and pencil crayons.

I originally was going to draw people with the the arms like Carla Sonheim, but decided the people could be imagined based on the position of the arms and hands.  I added some ā€œhand quotesā€ and then feelings and events and symbols that represent events in my life, others in my life and history, but now is not the time to tell the full stories.

I bet you could tell many ā€œtouchingā€ā€™stories yourself!
