Tonight, the Lethbridge sky was positively dramatic. At first, it was uncertain whether the thunderstorm warnings would manifest. The sky grew somewhat greyer and there were a few rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning accompanied by a few drops of rain. The thunder was about eight seconds away and we were encouraged by the grounds attendant to take refuge under a brick overhang or go to our vehicles instead of sitting on the metal bleachers at the University football field. Hmmm, should we stick it out or risk our lives by sitting on a potentially dangerous "lightning rod"? We chose refugeand then amazingly, a rainbow majestically announced itself and bowed across the sky, as it began to clear and reveal a delightfully clear blue in the east. A few minutes later, a double rainbow emerged to delight our senses and to ease our uncertainty. Then suddenly a steady rain commenced, but it looked like it wouldn't last. I ventured to the parking lot on the west side of the building and was surprised to see an entirely different story. There was a steady light show, almost like a strobe light on a dance floor. The clouds... wow... they were so positively dramatic. I have never seen such a mysterious green sky ever. It left me wondering, what is brewing in the west?...Please not a tornado...! The clouds looked a giant serpent hissing, slithering and stalking maliciously across the sky looking for its prey. Luckily, as far as I can tell, only the wind picked up and the rain poured, and I didn't see anything serious happen! Phew. What a positively dark and dramatic prairie sky!

ReplyDeleteHi Renee, I noticed there hasn't been a new blog for a couple of days since the green skies of Lethbridge. What's up with that? How about something on those two great horses of yours? Just saying.....
ReplyDeleteYou got it. I will include the horses soon!
