Adults, take a break from daily life and retreat to the country to learn how to creatively express yourself using mixed media in a visual journal.
Create, learn and reflect for 5 days with Renee Dowling in her cozy, beautiful art studio in the country, just 9 km from the airport.
July 7 - 11th, 2025
9 am-12 pm , 1-4, pm.
What a treat it will be to create in a real art studio and to have time to concentrate on your visual journaling without distractions.
Connect with fellow visual journaling enthusiasts, share ideas and learn new techniques or deepen new understandings of existing ones.
What to expect:
-make your own journal and collage papers.
-Learn how to create layers with collage, journaling, watercolour paint, gesso, stencils, mark making tools, rubber stamps and other media such as inks, pens, pencil crayons, water soluble supplies, fabric and thread, photography…
-create visual journaling pages unique to yourself
-time to reflect and journal creatively
-movement breaks and visit our horses, Monkey, Merry and Sunshine, and our new kittens!
-fresh air, outside time
-concentrate on mindfulness, wellness and personal growth
-optional open studio time until 9:00 pm.
-This visual journaling retreat is for all levels, and no experience is required.
-Please bring your own snacks, and lunch, water bottle
Lunch time can be flexible, depending on if we want to go out for lunch on certain days or do a potluck.
-Please bring inside shoes or slippers.
You may want to bring your favourite supplies and personal ephemera (maps, travel brochures, quotes, music pages, photocopies of photographs, tickets, anything that is a reflection of you and your interests) to include in your reflections.
$600, includes instruction, supplies, and open studio time 4-9 pm for the week.

The last day to register is June 30 @ midnight.
There will be a $50 cancelation fee, up to a week before the retreat. After that, 50% will be held back.
