What is Visual Journaling?
Visual journaling a very therapeutic way to express oneself combining art and writing. There is no right or wrong way of filling a visual journal. Whatever you feel like creating, exploring, or reflecting upon, your visual journal is always there for you without any judgment.
Visual journaling is a safe, creative way to release feelings that are imprisoned inside. It helps to sort through emotions in a healthy way.
It is a process that allows us to remember favourite memories, events, songs, quotes, recipes, and people. It also allows us to release memories, events and people that/who no longer support us.
It is a process of self-discovery. Problem solving, brainstorming, moving forward, establishing priorities, goals, and dreams are all positive things that can be revealed through visual journaling.
A visual journal is a place to heal our art wounds. Many of us tell ourselves that we are not artists. It stems back to a bad mark in art class, a comment from a parent or teacher or loved one that stung our hearts so deeply, that we became art paralyzed, stopping us from ever creating art again. Visual journaling helps to rekindle our art skills, take risks and learn from each entry and grow!
Art does not have to be displayed, nor does it have to be pretty. With visual journaling, it is the process that is important. By taking time to express ourselves, to escape, to slow down, to breathe, to be mindful and present in the moment, to have fun and play, visual journaling can change lives!
Visual journaling is about wellness, mental health and life!
